Stjepan Pavić

Biophysicist and independent AI/AGI and longevity researcher. Founder of Zero Requiem Research.

I became a biophysicist for a reason.I crave understanding of everything, and I'm tired of the borders people put around knowledge. Isn't exploring and discovering this shit we call reality the greatest high?.

My academic work moved from analytical models in mathematical physics to Kolmogorov Arnold neural networks bathed in Fourier Series, and genetic algorithms, before ChatGPT or Claude even existed When I presented my research to the head of a scientific institute in my country, someone regarded as one of its leading "scientists", her response was: "We've already tried that. There's nothing there. You'd be better off doing something meaningful for physics.". My mentor saw potential and supported a proposal to continue the work through doctoral research. But then the Ministry of Science didn't respond. For a full fucking year. And ChatGPT came out, voila, suddenly there was interest. The Ministry was willing to approve the proposal, but only on the condition that I become a full time university assistant. After a year of silence, they were now giving me ultimatums.

Fuck that!

And then the irony. The same institute ran into serious financial trouble, and I watched the same person who dismissed my work turn toward AI projects and research funding, trying to leech on PHDs to slave for her. So it's all meaningless when we young researchers want to explore, but valuable when there's money attached to it. To me, that's not science. That's a system that discourages young scientists from pursuing real research and innovation.

Fuck that as well!

I founded Zero Requiem Research to pursue science independently and find people who care about discovery, not titles. Today, I'm developing a human AI interface to accelerate wet lab research in biology and medicine.

I've also turned down many job opportunities during this AI boom. Too many seem interested in leeching off people with brains, making them develop new ways of what I can only call pure exploitation and scamming, or simply meaningless work.

And yes, I'm an anime and gaming freak. I'm also an artist who seriously considered going to art school before choosing physics. I've done some acting too. If Zero Requiem rings a bell, well... you know what I strive for.

I live for Science, and work with Humans, not humans.

This is the time when we need to push hard to understand this reality, attack from all the fronts. We don't have time to play around with old farts full of fears.

The essays here are my personal views on intelligence, science, institutions, human agency, and discovery. They're mine, and I stand by them.

Necessity breeds innovation. Entrenched, cushioned bureaucracy breeds stagnation.
